Quoting several types of research, referring that animal agriculture is behind the emission of about 51 percent of greenhouse gases in the environment; Tesla investor Mark Peter said, “The vegan interior issue isn’t a casual lifestyle choice, but a critical change needed for the survival of life on our planet”

This was the most debated topic in the recent shareholder meeting of Tesla, the availability of vegan interior materials. Along with a representative from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), many investors asked the company’s board to acquire diverse non-animal based materials making the vegan interior more available at the meeting. In response to the request, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla said that he will look into it.

Tesla spokesperson Khobi Brooklyn confirmed that you can have a vegan-friendly Tesla if you want it but it requires a spesh non-leathering steering wheel. He said, “The Model S comes standard with a leather steering wheel, – For the occasional customer wanting a non-leather steering wheel, we can provide one.” The Multi-Pattern Black Seats of Tesla Model S offers synthetic material seats along with faux-leather highlights.

Believe it or not, the lack of non-leather based steering wheels averts offering a real vegan interior. This might seem nothing much but this ain’t as simple as you’re thinking especially for the modern and luxurious steering wheels which are topped with gadgets.

After all these, the investors said that the competitors of Tesla also offer artificial interiors for years, but when surveying, the result was,

Jaguar Land Rover: Jaguar mobiles are featuring premium leather interiors, forget about vegan-friendly.

Lexus: They don’t have vegan-friendly interiors available for now.

BMW: Recently, BMW has started to offer a non-leather interior called SensaTec. Blending recycled materials and wool, this fabric was created. The color comes from plant-based dye and is available on the 2, 3, 4, 5 Series, X1, X3, X5, Z4, and i3 models.

Audi: Audi is currently working on the eco-conscious interior’s design but the vegan interior is yet to come.

Mercedes-Benz: They offer MBTex premium vinyl seats on some of their mobiles, not much about it is known.

Infiniti: Vegan-friendly seating is available in their Q50 and Q70 but only leather steering wheels are available throughout the board.
